Vijecnica (literally translated as "City Hall") was formerly the site of the city hall of Sarajevo. Artillery attacks during the siege of Sarajevo in August 1992 destroyed the collection and catalog of the Bosnian National and University Library. This library is currently undergoing reconstruction. It stands as a symbol of the war's damage to Bosnian culture and history.
